Another LG Epic Fail

My microwave over the range unit had a strange Pop sound and shortly after heating my coffee a pungent electronic burn smell filled the room. I unplugged the appliance and checked for visible signs of melting. I plugged it back in and used my thermal camera to attempt to find a Hot spot and found none. Each time I run the micro for even just a minute the room fills with that same odor. No smoke or visible heat. The repair guy said to Simply replace it. It was purchased on May 29th 2024. Just 6 months past factory warranty.

We did not know that the touch pad does not light up at all. Except for the clock. Its very hard to see in the evenings and early mornings without having to turn on the overhead kitchen light. If it had the backlit display for the touchpad this would have been a five-star review.

Damaged unit

I have received a damaged/dented unit and LG is telling me I had 10 days to replace it. Got transferred from department to department and nobody is willing to help and send me a replacement unit They are telling me I have to pay a 15 restocking fee to get a replacement. Why if this is damaged?. I want an exchange not a return... Do not buy this product unless you want to waste your money Worst product and customer service I have encountered

I bought this in April if this year. It is now the end of August and it has stopped heating for the second time. Warranty repaired last month after waiting weeks parts had to be ordered. Now I have the exact same problem again. I asked LG if they could just replace the unit and they said they needed to be sure it cant be repaired first. Piece of garbage. Never again LG.

Terrible quality failed in under 3 years

The unit is 3 years old and it already stopped warming food. This seems to be a common issue from the reviews Ive read and related to the magnetron. The LG warranty is worthless. A magnetron is covered for 10 years but if it fails after 1 year then youre on the hook for $400 to have it fixed. Obviously the better choice is to throw the microwave out and buy a quality one somewhere else.

THE CONTROLS ARE NOT ILLUMINATED

We were really disappointed with one specific problem that became immediately obvious the first day after installing this microwave. THE CONTROLS ARE NOT ILLUMINATED This is not a problem when all the kitchen lights are turned on but we find it extremely difficult to see the control panel buttons when the kitchen is only partially illuminated. Other than that problem the microwave works very well. Its just hard to make the microwave work correctly when you cannot see the controls. Users have submitted many pictures of their installed microwaves. In none of those pictures can you see the controls that are located on the front of the microwaves. I would not buy this microwave again nor would I recommend this microwave. We are very disappointed and we are considering return of this microwave.

Its been just under 2 years since bought new and it already stopped warming food. It seems to me the magnetron is gone bad. LG is terrible for warranty. I called and they only have a 1 year warranty on this model and also they charge $350 to send someone out. This is a joke when comparable microwaves cost $300

Ive installed this model and previous models in my high-end rental units. They work well for 24 months and then like clockwork a significant function stops working. Sure I call an authorized repair service but the cost of repairing is always equivalent to replacing with a new unit. I have talked with support but never had any resolution other than offering me the same discount I could get if I just ordered online. Loyalty is earned or in this case unearned.

FIRE HAZARD

I havent had the microwave very long but I put a potatoe in it and pushed the potatoe button and then went to my computer to work for a minute. My house was filled with smoke and the fire alarms going off and luckily my wife noticed that the potatoe was on fire inside the microwave and stopped it. It broke the microwave wont turn on anymore so it no longer works but could have been a much worse situation.

The power on this is wonderful cooks evenly. drawback is that the guide for time/food cooking is not backlit or clearly discernable. Turn on room lights and open door remember the setting and then close door and look for buttons to push per direction on inside of closed door. Not a lot of thought went into practical operation.

I loved the spacious and easy way to use but I had to call for service and they had to replace the main computer board and the magnetron twice. At least both times it was under warranty. I still love the microwave but disappointed that it had to be repaired twice.

I bought this microwave a month ago and am generally pleased with this model. There are some improvements that I would suggest. The light under the oven is barely betten than a night light. More light shining down on the cooktop below would be great The buttons on the glass door are impossible to read in the dark. The kitchen lights must be on to use the microwave.

I hope to improve this rating once I get my issue resolved... I purchased this microwave on 11/28/24 and it seems to be missing the internal light cover the cover for the light inside the cavity. I cant say for sure what this part looks like because Ive never seen it. Even though I purchased an extended warranty I cant figure out how to reach customer service to GET A NEW LIGHT COVER SHIPPED TO ME. Besides that frustrating issue I also notice that the inside of the microwave STEAMS UP quite a bit more than my previous microwave. Overall it functions as a micowave but theres nothing exciting to say about this product. As for LG can someone help me figure out how to contact LG and tell them a part is missing? I dont need a REPAIR the part is MISSING not broken.

The nightlight issue

We bought this microwave in early December. Overall we are happy with it. The one issue we are unable to resolve is that the nightlight goes out when the new LG range burner turns on and the fan turns on. The nightlight does not come back on unless turned on manually after the burner and fan are turned off. It is the weirdest thing and weve had the LG technician out but he wasnt able to identify the cause. The schedule is set correctly and the light works. The microwave and range are both connected to wifi on the ThinQ app and the only suggestion the technician gave us for resolving the issue was to disconnect the range from the ThinQ app. He was not very helpful in troubleshooting and was dismissive of why we were bothered by the problem.

Its so hot you can see smoke while in use. It has blown up the thick glass plate that food is set on for warming. After replacing microwave plate. I was told by LG I cannot put popcorn directly in that I have to put it on a plate before putting in the microwave. Blew up my plate 2nd attempt My plate set was pricey. They refused to refund or replace the microwave.

I bought this microwave just over a year ago and we already had to replace it. It almost caught my house on fire because it was pulling an excessive amount of power causing the power cord to smoke. It melted the outside and damaged the power cord completely. I contacted customer service and they gave me the run around. The issue was never addressed or fixed so I replaced the microwave and had the outlet replaced.

I bought this two weeks ago and am still getting use to the functions but so far it does the job. Two slight negatives: The menu items are hard to read in low lighting and becasue it has not as hiabout gh same width as my old microwave there is a 2 inch gap above the backsplash that is just drywall. It can only be sen from a distance unless you are a very short person. I plan to remedy by painting drywall same color as backsplash. Will not be noticeable.

If I could I would give a minus 10 rating. Our microwave quit working almost 2 months ago weve had an LG tech out 5 times to attempt to repair it and hasnt been able to its still under warranty and LG refuses to replace it they want to continue sending techs out and are now ignoring us this has become a nightmare we are still without a microwave we purchased around $7K worth of LG appliances and rest assured will never buy another LG product EVER

I bought it Nov. 1st and it was installed in the 4th of Nov. It worked 12 days then the heater quit and I couldnt find anyone to service it even though it was brand new under warranty. So we had to do without it thru Thanksgiving Yesterday Monday Dec.9th. I think Im gonna love it cos I own other LG items and Im very satisfied with them. I guess I just got the proverbial lemon

Great Microwave

The microwave works very well and heats up things quickly. I really enjoy it It would be nice to have a light behind the numbers and options so that it would be easier to see the options. Maybe just darker or bolder print on the keys. I find that it is difficult to read the choices when it is not bright outside or the light is low.
