Machine is 4 years old. New out of the box the heating mode would not work. Service tech came out and replaced heating unit. 4 years later machine will not heat. Contacted LG for a service tech and they do not currently have one in my area Branson MO. So in the winter I have a boat anchor and hopefully this summer I will have an air conditioner.

Weve rarely used this window unit....less than 1000 hours of use over a 3-4 year period of use. Weve cleaned the filters after using for more than a few days every time weve used it. It just quit heating totally. Blows air...no heat at all. No troubleshooting has worked to help.

Ive had this air-condition with heater for about 3 months I have a problem with it cutting on and off not running long enough to heat technician came out and checked it said it needed to be leveled if that didnt help he would come back out. When he gave his report he said that the problem was improper installation and wasnt the right size for the room and closed the ticket on it. So he lied to me and theres no way something can cut on and off be efficient would not recommend buying anything from LG

Disappointing product and experience

Product started emitting antifreeze type smell after 16 months of operation. After contacting both Home Depot where we bought it and LG the manufacturer directly we were told it was over its 1 year warrantee and we could pay to have it repaired. We contacted two local AC repair companies who both told us that it would cost us about half the cost of a new unit to repair it and neither was interested in sending over a service tech. They both recommended that we simply buy a new unit. Very disappointing after spending $800 for the unit to work for little over a year. Customer service was very aloof and none offer any solutions to our problem very disappointing.

Bought this in April of 2023 and so far it works great. Cant say much for Lowes handling of the unit Not LGs fault. Installed this thru the wall easily enough no sleeve needed imo. All outside grills are open. Cools great time will tell regarding the heating functionality.

Bought it for the heating function

The unit works good and even held its own fairly well down to 10F. Eventually it stopped working because the unit froze up from the ice storm which kept it from starting by putting resistance on the fan which impacted the system which is designed to soft start. LG was very responsive to check the unit and all was well. While the unit is sized reasonably for our house the layout of our windows and floorplan contributes to the unit short cycling. This causes us to tweak air movement and settings to try and reduce this. It would be helpful if you could program a temp range to increase the spread between triggering on and off. Our house is very old and has zero insulation in the walls which allows for ambient temps to swing fast and with a narrow temperature spread constantly triggers the thermostat.

Bought this unit July 2019. Had it installed properly in my double garage and it worked very well for cooling and heating until now. I cleaned the filter on a regular basis. Since it has stopped heating in December 2022 I have called LG for a referral to get someone that can fix the unit. I have not received a response yet that has led to someone able to fix my unit. I honestly dont care about entering any kind of drawing. I just want someone to fix my LG 18000 Btu ac/heater. From the time I purchased it in July 2019 until now December 2022 does not seem to be a satisfactory service life considering the price I paid for the unit.

We had an LG AC/Heater in our living room window. It kept us cool through 5 Florida summers. When the compressor stopped working we tried to have it repaired but couldnt find anyone who would/could repair a window unit. We bought a new unit that has more BTUs and hopefully it will last longer than 5 years. It is a beautiful unit with an easy to clean the filter. The one problem we have with the unit is how loud it is when running even on Fan 1. In order to hear the TV we have to turn it off.

The unit pops the breaker every time its plugged in to its 220 V receptacle. Now I am without. I have requested repair and was told that repair was unavailable and they were looking into alternate resolution. This is how I need to heat and cool and I am somewhat disappointed.

Purchased 3 additional units those work great. Cannot seem to get a refund on the defective units from LG even though LGs Certified Technician couldnt fix them. Life is not Good.

Window ac Unit lasted less that 4 years now LG refuses to fix it. I bought a 5 year warranty from Home Depot Asurion and still not working for over four weeks. Asurion says its under LG warranty and LG says because of the out door elements they arent responsible. The unit is designed to be out side. Not happy

I bought this in September 2020. I bought the heating and cooling unit because the back of the house does not cool or heat as well as the front. I can turn the air on and it will run continuously or I can set it at energy saver and it will adjust when it gets cool and cut off and then resume when the temperature gets higher. The thing I hate about the heat part is that its always on energy saver and it takes forever to heat up my small room and bathroom. You cannot just turn the heat on and leave it on it automatically like the air cooling it goes to energy saver automatically and you cant adjust it to run continuously to heat the room. The unit will run for about 60 to 90 seconds and then cut off. Then it turns on again in about 2 to 3 minutes to warm again. It can be 60 in the bedroom but it continually cuts on and off. It takes several hours for the room to actually warm up If I had to do it again I would just have bought an air conditioner and a small portable heater. When I turn the heater unit on now it sounds like theres a tiny noise in it. If it wasnt so heavy and hard to uninstall I would definitely return it. It cost a lot of money for something that does not work like I thought it would.

I bought the dual A/C and heater in May. It works great. It cools the entire bottom half of my house in the summer and heats well during the winter. Im so glad I made this investment. I would recommend it to anyone.

These LG Electronics - LW1816HR room ac/heater units are just great. Installation was manageable the display features are easy to understand but best of all we like the fact that a desired temperature can be set and you can rest assured that it will maintain it. Just wish they werent so pricey but... you get what you pay for right?
