Elevated workhorse

This is the virtually identical appliance I installed in our newly renovated kitchen 18 years ago. It functioned flawlessly under heavy, (almost industrial) daily use since 2008 so when my previous microwave gave up last week, I didn™€™t hesitate to purchase this replacement with the identical dimensions but updated features pronto. It fits neatly into the preordained cabinetry and was simple to unpack, install and put into service immediately. The intervening 4 days served to remind our busy household how much we have come to depend upon this stalwart workhorse in our very busy kitchen.

Good Microwave Oven but...

This is my third GE Microwave. It is about the only one manufactured that is 24" wide and will mount under wall kitchen cabinets. I have had no problems with its capacity, with its power, with the way it works and can handle all the foods that I need to warm or prep. But it is the third because the interlock between the door and the power switch has broken twice on the previous models. When this is happening, you can't turn the unit off with the door closed. Once you open the door the unit stops the microwave radiation, but as soon as you close the door, it starts up again. No amount of hitting the cancel button works. Very frustrating because other than this problem, the oven works fine. But we had to have a towel draped over the door to keep it from closing. This is a possible fire hazard since with nothing inside the oven, it gets warmer and warmer as it runs. This time I purchased the extended warranty for five years, but as I recall, the problem with the last two ovens didn't start within five years of purchase. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

GE under the cabinet microwave.

This is the 3rd GE under the cabinet we have owned over 40 years. The microwave is prefect for our small kitchen. There is sufficient space to have a toaster oven under the microwave and still have usable counter space.

Although this microwave oven is not as big as my last microwave/convention oven, I am pleased that (1) I have a microwave that will fits into the cubicle that my last countertop with built-in capability GE Profile microwave oven was in; and (2) that the controls are basically the same. Some features that I do not have: Clock- no AM/PM; just the time; of course, smaller capacity (1.5 cu ft to 1.1 cu ft); and went from 1000 watts to 800 watts. However, I can still use the oven for most everyday needs; and, so far, I do not really see a difference in the time needed to cook my food with 200 watt less - that's great! I am using the oven without the trim kit and it blends right in with the surroundings - very nice. Will need to get used to the door lock feature - extra button to press to open door. Also, the buttons require more strength to push. For a smaller capacity microwave oven, this model is great.

GE Profile can replace 24™€ Spacesaver I or II

This Profile Microwave Oven probably works as well as any 800 Watt microwave could. It replaces a GE Spacesaver 2 which fit under my 24™€ cabinet. GE could have put the bolt holes in the same relative positions as the Spacesaver 1 and 2 so it could have been easier to install. They didn™€™t. The Profile did fit in the 24™€ space though its literature said it needed 24 7/8™€. The microwave seems more noisy than my last one -perhaps because it has a turntable which is a feature I like. I™€™m happy that GE makes a 24™€ under-cabinet model

Great size, looks and functionality!

I needed a countertop microwave in white to coordinate with my new GE Cafà matte white appliances. I also needed a shallow depth to fit on a shelf in my new cabinetry. I had a kitchen remodel and this microwave fits perfectly all my criteria. It functions well and is a size that will perform all our microwave tasks. Glad GE made this shallow depth yet not super small microwave. I could not find this size in any other brand. Thanks, GE!
