In April, I purchased this GE 4.5cu washer. The laundry detergent and fabric softener is being released at the end of the cycle. Someone came out a couple of weeks ago to replace a valve but the same thing is happening again. I'm not happy with this product. The second repairman came out on Friday 8-21 and now the situation is worse. It fills up with water with the setting on low. Then drains the water out and stops. I'm so fraustrated. Please don't purchase this washing machine.

Very good washer, so far. It has enough technology to make your laundry more efficient, while being basic enough to be simple to use. The agitator makes the water slosh around more than a washer without an agitator, so nasty stains come out with no problem. The spin cycle is very fast and the clothes come out nearly dry.

Our old GE washer was not working properly and our repairman gave us an estimate to repair was almost as much as a replacement, so we decided to replace it. The new GE washer is definitely an upgrade and it has all the features and more that we needed.

1 year light use with lid issues

After just under a year of light use in a single person household the plastic around the lid hinges cracked. I didnt think anything of it until a large chunk feel off at just after a year and call to discuss warranty based on the 10 years parts advertised when I purchased. Apparently that is only for the motor and they would not warranty even the parts on the lid. Looking at forums many customers are having this issue and have replaced the lid multiple times with. The lid was not slammed and no heavy objects were placed on it. A very expensive washing machine is no useless as the plastic has continued to Crack and the lid replacement would be close to $300. This will be my last GE appliance

Seems to work okay but far noisier than our 11 year old LG was. Matching Dryer is the same way, very noisy. They both seem to lack insulation. Also the top of the dryer was installed a bit crooked, poor Quality Control.

Good variety of controls. Poor quality machines. Nice to be able to set desired choices. Not sure if wash uses proper amount of water. Dryer takes a long time to get dry. Heavier cotton clothes (tee shirts, etc.) are never dry when machine shuts down after sensor control tells it all is dry.

Very pleased with this washer from GE - I read about it in the NYT Wirecutter section and the size and format (top load) was a perfect fit to replace an aging washer. It's easy to use with a large dial for settings and buttons to fine tune how you want the load to process. It cleans clothes nicely and quickly. It handles towels and bedding easily. The price point was perfect as well.

Sales person was very professional, but I was misled. I was told they had 10 units available after arriving at the store. There were none therefore I had to pay a delivery fee when I had my own truck and trailer available. Otherwise everything else were good.

This washer is garbage. Purchased at Best But in Winchester VA and it lasted 9 months. The drum would no longer move. Best But would do nothing for me. I ended up having to buy a new washer. I will NEVER buy another GE product again. I live alone so the washer wasn't heavily used. If a washing machine is not going to last even 1 year I may as well just do my laundry at the laundromat because GE appliances are absolute garbage. I returned it to the Best Buy store, they wouldn't do anything for me so I left it sitting in the store, went to Home Depot next door and purchased a new washer. not more GE products in my home and no more purchases from Best Buy.

When the washer was delivered and the delivery man started the quick wash and the washer was empty I was prepared to hate it because it was LOUD !!! while agitating. BUT™€¦the gentle cycle with my clothes inside was AMAZINGLY QUIET and gentle. A load of sheets was not really very loud (not enough to be annoying and some noise is expected.) The normal spin cycle is very quiet. Haven™€™t tried the faster spins yet. There™€™s a bunch of clicks and knocks that are said to be normal sounds thru out the cycle and they™€™re not too loud and I pretty much ignore them . So far it™€™s fairly quiet and I™€™ll get used to the sounds it makes , and the clothes are clean. I still haven™€™t learned all the features but especially like the ability to add more water and the longer soak cycle up to 2 hours. I hope this machine gives me as good service as my old Maytag (23years without one repair and the 23 year old dryer still going strong ). So far I™€™m happy with this GE. Originally I didn™€™t get it based on reviews saying it was too loud. I chose another name brand that had loose bearings after 2 weeks of normal use, so I returned it and got GE. I also have a new GE wall oven that I really like Too. So far GE seems the better quality in the 2 appliances I recently replaced . 5 stars on the washer at this point.

I™€™ve only had this washer for 3 days but I am loving it. It™€™s so much better than our previous GE. I™€™ve washed small, medium, large and bulky loads and it™€™s handled all of them easily. The dual agitator actually moves the clothes around. The ability to choose water capacity has been a game changer! I™€™m able to get enough water in the drum so clothes come out feeling and looking clean. I love the simplicity of it. I hope the buttons stand up over time. We did buy the extended warranty because we™€™ve had issues with the lids breaking on previous washers.

It's ok. All the hype about this washer is a lie. You need to always have max water. The agitator must be an introvert, cause it doesn't even trigger the downy balls to work. The fabric softener is to be poured in the agitator... It doesn't rinse so it continues to ooze out after the wash has finished... Even after you include the deep rinse. It's a lot of bells and whistles, but eh, that's all it is. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with really dirty clothes.

First new washer in 72 years. Very satisfied as I can control water temperature and level, and features pre-soak and spin speed. Only issue is the bleach reservoir leaks onto the floor which is a disappointment but understand it is a flaw in this model. Not sure what action to take.

The washer is doing a good job cleaning the clothes and the performance so far is great. The auto water level does not work for me on some loads. I don™€™t like when the washer turns back on after the wash cycle is finished. You have to turn it off twice.

Poor product! Poor service! Horrible experience!

Washing Machine broke after light use in 2 Months. Home Depot won't do anything and getting support from GE is horrible. They force you to go through Bodewell for warranty service. Bodewell is closed and when I scheduled service through the web site they say I will be charged $134 Trip Fee for something that is less than 2 months old and under warranty. I will never by a GE appliance again after this experience.

I have only had the washer 1 week but so far I love it. Large drum, effective agitator, spins the load so well that it saves me drying time. Most importantly I love all the control options. All loads so far have come out very clean - from delicates to jeans and towels. I'm praying it will continue to perform this well for years to come.

I have this washer - I like the washer it has done a good job. However it is less than 2 years old -had the repairman out - the pump, transmission & agitator all need to be replaced. On the washer is a sign - 10 year limited parts warranty - amazing NONE of it is covered under warranty. Will cost as much to repair as it would to buy new. Now considering a different brand - as this is the 2nd of these washers I've had go bad in less than 6 years. The previous one lasted almost 4 years.

Machine was fine UNTIL the bolt holding the agitator in place rusted, severed in half, and the bottom of the bolt lodged in (what I learned to be) the shaft at the top of the machine™€™s transmission. This happened after literally only two years! I contacted the Company for service and was told very quickly this can™€™t be repaired and that the transmission would have to be replaced. Cost of the repair with labor = more than the original cost of the washing machine!!! I will say that the repair man and the customer service representative that I worked with to ultimately purchase a new washing machine were very helpful - but yes, I said I had to purchase a new washing machine after only two years™€¦It was the most logical and economical solution. And if you look at the reviews for the part that broke - I am not alone!! This has happened to others and is clearly a design flaw! Check out the reviews for this part on GE Appliances WASHING MACHINE SCR 1/4-20 2A SINULOC - WH02X24374. Caution to buyer. This $6 part cost me several hundred dollars for a new machine. Follow Up - the Company addressed my review by saying I should continue to work directly with them. However, as I already noted, I purchased a new machine after working with the customer service team and them offering all the options they had. So who then, if they™€™ve done what they could (and I called back to ask), should I be working directly with? If you ask me, it™€™s a nice way to try to make the issue of a crappy appliance go away. Follow Up - the company responds to this review saying continue to work with them. Work with who? I already worked with customer service and end up having to buy a new washer. If that team has already done all they can do - who then is it that I should be working with? Sounds like a easy response to make the issue of a crappy appliance go away.

Old-School Replacement That Works Great!

I love this washer. I™€™m old school and wanted a top load washer with an agitator. Check. Wanted to choose my own water level. Check. The washer has enough settings for my needs and works well, better than my old trusted machine that died even. If I forget to choose the water level on my own, the auto feature does a great job and I™€™ve had no problems. Washer is big enough for blankets and bedding for king size bed. Overall I am totally satisfied with this washer.

I always buy Maytag for large appliances, but since horrible Whirlpool bought them out, my Maytag washer only lasted me 6 years and started going bad within the first 3 years. I decided to try G&E because they were always my 2nd choice. I am loving this washer so far! I've only had it 4 days, but I've used it non-stop since my Maytag left me high & dry. I love how the tub can be filled to the top, opposed to my Maytag that had 3 inches as their "deep fill" option. I never felt our clothes were clean. Now, I can see the difference in my husband's dirty work jeans clearly! So far, I'm happy. The only thing I don't like is there was no clean with affresh option to clean the washer. But bleach and hot water filled to the top will also clean it.

Calibration Issue

This machine has an issue with calibration, because I always have to pause it to reset the clothes because the spin cycle is all off balance and bangs the machine around. I bought one and had it replaced, and the replacement does the same things. Frustrating.

Love this washer! Probably closest you'll get to the old school feel with just the right amount of modern features. Agitator actually does what its supposed to and clothes come out cleaner than ever.

Confusing instructions

There are some discrepancies between the Quick Start Guide and the on-line only Ownewr's Manual and within the Owner's Manual regarding where to put the detergent. Quick Start Guide and page 6 of the manual say to put non-packet detergent on top of the loaded clothes but page 12 says to put the non-packet detergent in the dispenser tray at the back of the machine. I understand for cost savings, one quick start guide is probably used for many models but the Owner's Manual should be consistent.
